James Park Elementary

James Park Elementary is a replacement school that features the expected educational spaces put together in a modernized way as well as an integrated community component. An open plan library – the first for this district – overlooks a south facing Learning Commons that is shared by both the school and community. Clerestory windows run the perimeter of the upper floor flooding the classrooms and gym with natural daylight while highlighting an elegant wood roof structure. The sloped butterfly roof covers the entire school and features a central, oversize gutter that directs rainwater to feature catchment pillars on either end. The project targets LEED® Gold.

This project was delivered by Grant + Sinclair Architects Ltd., a wholly-owned entity of Omicron. Key personnel who designed this project are currently with GA Studio.
